Grief and Loss Counselling
Caregivers have often experienced years of anticipatory grief with the cumulative losses that occur when expecting a death. Creating community with others who understand the enormity of grief and loss through our support groups can be very helpful.
It takes time to adjust to your world after the loss of a spouse or partner, a parent, a child, or a close friend. It takes time to adjust to your world without this person and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Whether the loss is sudden or prolonged, it takes courage and strength to feel your way forward. I can guide you through strategies and practices to help you move along your grief journey.
When a death occurs without warning, is untimely, or if the survivor believes that the death could have been prevented, was unfair and/or was unjust, we call this a traumatic loss. I can work with you to cope with the trauma, then deal with your grief.
Divorce
Yes, there is recovery after a divorce. This grief can be difficult when the relationship is gone, but not the person. Walking through your grief to create a healthy life is a worthwhile goal.
Anxiety & Depression
Anxiety is a stress response and grief is certainly a stress, it makes sense that they can go together. Anxiety and/or depression can become a primary expression of grief that you may not realize.
Motherless Daughters
Support for women who have lost their mothers through death, estrangement, or absence is essential. Losing a mother profoundly impacts a woman’s life, shaping her identity, relationships, and emotional well-being.
Pet Loss
Pet loss grief is real. It can be minimized which causes further confusion and pain. Hence, the bereaved person may feel guilt, shame, or confusion, in addition to the shock, denial, depression, or anger of the actual loss.
